When it comes to electric pickup trucks, there aren’t many options on the market today. While the Rivian R1T and a Tesla pickup are in the works, they aren’t available in the US yet. Simone Giertz – a Youtuber known as “The Queen of Shitty Robots” – decided not to wait, and converted her Tesla Model 3 into a truck herself.

Giertz is best known for her outlandish and quirky robot creations, which she frequently shares on her YouTube channel. As reported by Jalopnik, “She’s no stranger to using angle grinders and welders, so there’s really no stopping her otherwise. This project will yield, as Giertz claims, the first functional Tesla pickup truck ever.”

“I don’t know if this is going to be the smartest or the most stupid thing I’m ever going to do,” said Giertz in the video. “But, the bottom line is, I really want an electric pickup truck and, more specifically, I really want a Tesla pickup. But they haven’t released one yet.”

“I really need to haul lumber and dead bodies right now,” she continued, “so I’m just going to have to make my own.”

“It’s the only sane option.”

Taking a Tesla Model 3, Giertz and her team proceeded with only a basic plan in mind, cutting into the steel chassis and reworking the vehicle.

Along with stripping the Model 3 and sawing off some body panels, they also attached a functional truck bed.

Giertz didn’t just stop when the creation was built. Instead, she hired a production company to create a fake commercial with the reimagined vehicle, which she dubbed “Truckla.”
