During an episode that aired earlier this week, 19-year-old Benjamin Glaze, a participant on the singing competition show American Idol, had his “uncomfortable” first kiss shown to the viewing public. Katy Perry, a singer who is in the role of judge on the show, kissed Glaze without his consent, stealing his once in a lifetime moment.

“I was a tad bit uncomfortable,” said Glaze about the kiss with 33-year-old Perry.
Glaze also insisted that he was saving his first kiss intentionally. “I wanted to save it for my first relationship,” Glaze stated, according to a report by the Daily Mail. “I wanted it to be special.”
He even added that if Perry had asked him beforehand, which she did not, he would have turned down the chance to have his first kiss with the singer.
“Would I have done it if she said, ‘Would you kiss me?’ No, I would have said no,” Glaze explained.
“I know a lot of guys would be like, ‘Heck yeah!’ But, for me, I was raised in a conservative family, and I was uncomfortable immediately. I wanted my first kiss to be special.”
The moment happened before Glaze had even had a chance to audition.
Luke Bryan asked Glaze if he had ever “kissed a girl and liked it,” a reference to one of Perry’s songs. Glaze answered, “No, I’ve never been in a relationship, I can’t kiss a girl without being in a relationship.”
Perry insisted he approach the judges, something that appeared to make him uncomfortable. Glaze also asserted he was only going to kiss her on the cheek.
When Glaze kissed Perry’s cheek, she mentioned the absence of the “smush” sound. He decided he was going to try again and, as he went in for a second kiss on the cheek, Perry turned her head, surprising him with a kiss on the lips.
Glaze’s reaction shows he was taken aback by Perry’s decision. “It’s just, I kinda wasn’t expecting that,” he said.
Ultimately, Glaze did have a chance to perform for the judges, but was not selected to continue with the show.
