Early on Tuesday morning, Lachelle Hudgins was parked outside of her home when a group of suspected robbers approached her driver’s side window. Hudgins said that the suspects reached inside of her vehicle through the window, alleging that they were trying to grab her purse. She decided to fight off the would-be robbers and reached for her gun.

The incident took place at an apartment complex in Houston, Texas, at approximately 2:30 am on Tuesday, according to a report by Washington Post.

“I couldn’t do anything except scream,” said Hudgins as she described the incident. But, when one of the men tried to reach through her open car window, she took action and reached for her gun.

She only had two shots in her gun, and she fired them both in the direction of the suspects. Hudgins shot one of the youths.

“It was all I had in my gun,” said Hudgins. “I shot until I couldn’t shoot anymore.”

“I saved my life,” she added.

When Hudgins opened fired, the group fled, including the one who was shot. The wounded suspect, a juvenile, moved to the other side of the apartment complex, but was found just a short time later.

The injured suspect was taken to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery. He may face charges of aggravated robbery.

None of the other suspects have been arrested.

The Houston district attorney has chosen not to charge Hudgins over the incident.
