A 20-year-old woman has been sentenced to 20 years in the state’s custody after she was found unfit to stand trial. In June 2018 she broke into her ex-boyfriend’s home and forced him to have sex with her while holding a machete to his neck. She must undergo treatment and counseling for her actions.
Samantha Mears, of Montana, arrived at the home of her ex-boyfriend while he was out at a nearby gas station. When he arrived back, Mears reportedly came out from the bedroom and approached her ex from “behind him and placed a machete under his throat.”
According to the Daily Mail, Mears ordered her ex to get onto the bed and take off all his clothing. The 20-year-old told police that her ex became aroused after seeing her in her underwear, which resulted in the two having intercourse.
Mears reportedly proceeded to have sex with her ex multiple times. The ex took a myriad of photos while Mears’ back was turned to him. He would later use these as evidence that she used a weapon to force him to have sex.
Upset that he was taking photos, Mears stood on top of the bed and proceeded to pee on her ex’s bed, which he argued would cost him $600 to replace, The New York Post reported.
The victim was able to escape his captor once his sister arrived home. He then went to the police station to report what had happened. When Mears was brought in for questioning, she claimed the two had “consensual intercourse.”
The officer noted: “[She] was not making much sense and would often ramble on in her answers with information that did not even pertain to my questions.”
For the next 20 years, Mears will be in the custody of the Montana Department of Public Health & Human Services. She is now ordered to take prescription medicine and is classified as a Tier 2 sex offender.
