On Sept. 21, two-year-old June Love Agosto was left in a hot car with the heater on for five hours while her mother, a recovering drug addict, went out drinking with her friends. Sadly, two days later, the child died, and the mother is under investigation for the child’s death. The death was ruled an accident.
According to the mother’s account, she left the two-year-old in the car with a blanket over her at 11:30 p.m. while she went for drinks with friends. Concerned the child might get cold, she blasted the heater.
The woman told investigators she drank too much and fell asleep at around 5 a.m. Shortly thereafter, the woman went to check on her child to find her unresponsive with throw up in her lap and heat blisters all over her body.
“Vomit was present on her shirt and the car seat. Skin was coming off the decedent’s back,” the police report stated. “(The mother) places her on the grass and sprayed her with the water hose in an attempt to cool her down. The decedent was taken into the house and a call was placed to 911.”
The two-year-old was rushed to the hospital where doctors tried to save her for two days before she was pronounced dead. According to KTLA, when the child was brought to the hospital, she had a temperature of 107.
The mother, who was not named in the report, originally tried to lie about the situation by claiming she went to knock on the babysitter’s door and was only gone a few minutes. Based on the evidence at the scene, it was determined that the woman was not being truthful. She finally admitted that she’d been drinking with friends.
Previously, the woman had her older child, a six year old, taken from her after a drug bust, the Daily Mail reported.
A GoFundMe was created to cover the funeral cost. It has raised $3,645 out of the $5,000 goal.
