Not all service dogs are cut from the same cloth. This Pomeranian isn’t likely to guide the blind, much less sniff out any IEDs. Kira does provide a valuable service, though, to the 67-year-old Vietnam veteran who owned her–until she was stolen last week in a brazen daylight theft.

The dog was stolen on October 28th, in Osceola County, Florida. The woman stole the dog from the Old Town outdoor shopping mall in Kissimmee.

The incident was caught on security cameras. Now the Osceola County Sheriff’s office is asking for help locating the woman seen on the footage.

Even though she was caught in the act, they’ve not been able to identify her. Now they’re hoping the public will be able to put a name to her face and help locate Kira.

Deputies hope the public can help identify the suspect and recover the stolen dog.

The 67-year-old Vietnam veteran, Joseph Hanson, relies on Kira to help with his PTSD. He was at the shopping center when one woman began arguing with him.

He had two dogs, including Kira, on leashes. While the one woman was arguing with him, another unleashed Kira.

Kira is 21-years-old and weighs six pounds.

“Anyone with information about the dog or who can identify the suspect is asked to call 407-348-2222,” Fox writes.
