On Monday, 16-year-old Khaseen Morris was walking home with friends after school when he was rushed by multiple males. A fight involving ten males – allegedly over a girl – broke out. Video from the incident shows Morris being tossed onto the ground. He also starts bleeding, the cause of which was later determined to be a stab wound.

The incident took place outside of Mario’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Oceanside, New York, at approximately 3:45 pm. According to a report by the Daily Mail, up to 80 other kids were present at the scene of the fight, many of whom were filming the altercation.
As the assault raged on, none of the bystanders stepped in to help.
Morris was killed during the brawl.
During a press conference, Nassau County Police detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick stated, “They would rather video this event. They videoed his death instead of helping him.”
Speaking to the teens directly, Fitzpatrick continued, “I don’t know what to make of it, my generation versus this generation. This can’t go on. Your friends are dying while you stand there and video it. That’s egregious.”
“That dispute boiled over here, where a group of six to seven males charged at the victim and his couple of friends,” said Fitzpatrick.
“If you’re not a part and parcel of murder of Khaseen Morris, now is the time to get in touch with us and let us know who did this and why.”
Detective Vincent Garcia, also with the Nassau County Police, confirmed that a “very active investigation” was underway, but that no arrests had been made at that time.
Garcia noted that there were up to 80 witnesses, some of whom were recording “the assault going down.” Some clips from the incident were posted on Snapchat.
“They were more busy videotaping the event than helping, but because of that we have pretty good ideas of who we are looking for,” said Garcia.
“Around 60 to 80 youths were there, so we are asking for anyone with further information to please come forward.”
Morris’ older sister said that her brother had changed schools in his senior year so that he could have a “fresh start.” She claims that he was confronted because he walked a girl home after a party on Sunday.
“The girl told her ex-boyfriend and said that ‘Oh another boy walked me home’ and she kind of set up this thing to get him jealous,” said Morris’ sister.
“He was going to go to school for photography, but he always said he wanted to be a rock star,” she continued. “He was the most peaceful, loving person in the world.”
