In the wake of a mass shooting, stories of humanity capture the collective imagination. There are the selfless citizens who shield others with their own bodies. Others, even those with no medical training, spring into action and help save lives. Then there are the ones who stand up in the face of evil and flip it the bird.

As of this writing, 58 people are dead in the mass shooting off the Las Vegas strip. Hundreds more are wounded. Images of two men who stood up to the shooter are going viral and inspiring many with their brazen defiance.
One of the men can be seen standing, arms outstretched, yelling “come on p******” as those around him duck all of the gunfire.
Others could be seen running, or taking cover behind barricades, but the man kept on with his display.
Another man clearly knew the gunfire was coming from above him as he made rude hand gestures while facing him down. He then took a swig from his beer.
In the aftermath, many are being critical of all of the people who were being shot at who didn’t take responsibility for their own safety. While these two men are being celebrated for their bravery, others are being seen as foolish. Many of the videos show people running away attempting, in vain, to prevent their beers from spilling.
Others are being criticized for not putting away their phones and helping those around, even while law enforcement officials remained unsure where the gunfire was coming from.
The shooter has been identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock. He died in the shooting, though it remains unclear if he shot himself or if he was killed when SWAT officers raided his room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay resort.
