A woman is facing 20 years in prison and a fine of over $10,000 after authorities determined that she licked a tub of Blue Bells ice cream, before putting it back onto the shelf for an unsuspected buyer to find. She can be charged with second-degree felony for tampering with a consumer product.

The incident took place in Lufkin, Texas, at a Walmart on June 28. Lufkin Police believe they have identified the woman in the video, which went viral leaving many people disgusted by the act.
To the surprise of nobody, this has created a challenge for teens to run into stores and lick ice cream tubs before rushing back out. The now-infamous eight-second video showed the unnamed woman being egged on by a male recording the video to lick the ice cream, the Daily Mail reported.
After she licks the ice cream tub, the woman can be seen grinning and chuckling as she puts the tub back into the freezer shelf.
Since then, authorities have been able to recover the suspected tub. As a precautionary measure, all of Blue Bell’s ‘Tin Roof’ ice cream had been removed from the store in question, Fox 8 reported.
In response to the outcry, Blue Bell tried to put would-be customers at ease by issuing a response. “The safety of our ice cream is our highest priority, and we work hard to maintain the highest level of confidence of our customers. Food tampering is not a joke, and we will not tolerate tampering with our products,” the company said in a statement.
“Food safety is a top priority, and we work hard to provide a safe product and maintain the highest level of confidence from our consumers,” they added. “During production, our half gallons are flipped upside down and sent to a hardening room where the ice cream freezes to the lid creating a natural seal. The lids are frozen tightly to the carton. Any attempt at opening the product should be noticeable. We will continue to monitor this situation.”
The video has been viewed over 11 million times since it was uploaded.
