UPDATE 10:47AM EST: The Columbus Fire Department is reporting that seven people have been transported to area hospitals after being injured by gunfire at Ohio State University.
The tweets were as follows. The first message encouraged students to run, hide or fight.
Shortly thereafter the following tweet was posted:
A third tweet was most recently posted by both the public safety department and Ohio State Police Department urging students in one part of campus to continue to shelter in place and follow police instructions.
This tweet could give credence to some early social media reports that the suspected shooter has been neutralized by police.
According to a CNN report:
Sophomore Wyatt Crosher said he heard gunfire that he believes came from a class building across the street.
“My roommate and I heard about three or four gunshots from across the street, and soon after we heard a bunch of police and ambulances pull up across the street,” the 19-year-old said.
“We can’t see the building where the shooting happened because of a dorm blocking our view. It truly sounded like gunshots, and really soon after we heard a bunch of sirens. We can see the police cars from our dorm.”
It is currently unclear if anyone has actually been shot and/or if there are any fatalities.
