President Trump has had a very difficult week. After the disastrous response to his summit with Russian president Putin, he came home to talks of treason. And now a report has surfaced that Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer, made recordings of President Trump discussing payments to Playboy model.

“The FBI is in possession of a recording between President Donald Trump and his former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, in which the two men discuss a payment to a former Playboy model who has alleged an affair with Trump,” CNN writes.

The matter has been substantiated “Rudy Giuliani and a source familiar with the matter.”

When the FBI raided Cohen’s office and residence earlier this year, this recording was one of the things they took into evidence.

“A transcript of the recording was reviewed by the Trump legal team,” CNN notes, “which does not believe it is a legal problem for the President.”

The conversation was recorded before the 2016 election.

“[Karen] McDougal eventually signed a contract with the company that owns the National Enquirer, which barred her from publicly speaking about the alleged affair before the 2016 election.”

President Trump has, and continues to deny the alleged affair, though his legal team has acknowledged the existence of the tapes.

“Nothing in that conversation suggests that he had any knowledge of it in advance,” Giuliani told reporters, “In the big scheme of things, it’s powerful exculpatory evidence.”

McDougal originally thought the payments she received would allow her more freedom in appearing in print and telling her story, yet the agreement has prevented that. She has since tried to get the agreement revised.

“In April, she reached a settlement with AMI that allows her to discuss the alleged affair.
Speaking with CNN’s Anderson Cooper in March, McDougal alleged that she and Trump were together ‘many dozens of times’ and answered in the affirmative when asked if they were intimate.”

McDougal’s story of her time with Trump paints a very different picture of the relationship with Trump. She says the two were together from 2006 to 2007, and that, even though Trump was married, their relationship was a “consensual, loving relationship.”

“I didn’t know he was intimate with other ladies,” she said on CNN’s ‘Anderson Cooper 360.’ “I thought I was the only one.”
