According to police, a father was able to stop four would-be teenaged kidnappers who were attempting to take his 17-year-old daughter. The teens, who believed the father was wealthy, hatched a plot similar to what you would see in a movie, using barrels to create a roadblock in an attempt to get his daughter to exit her vehicle.

As reported by Fox News, the incident took place in Baker, Florida. Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a possible home invasion in progress at approximately 10:30 pm on Tuesday.

When they arrived, the 51-year-old homeowner stated that his daughter had called him, telling him that someone placed barrels and trashcans in the road to create a roadblock on the way to their home. It is believed that blocking the street was an attempt to force her to exit her vehicle and walk home.

His daughter was able to drive around the barrels and did not have to leave her car.

The sheriff’s office released a statement, saying, “A short time later, her father heard his dogs barking and saw his front motion-activated flood lights come on.”

According to the statement, the father “heard what sounded like his car door closing and went to get his gun.” After he made his way to the garage, he found a group of people attempting to gain entry. The father fired three shots, which caused the would-be intruders to run into a nearby wooded area.

Local authorities received a tip from a neighbor who spotted a “suspicious car near her house” and were able to catch up to the suspects who were traveling in a 2016 white Jeep Liberty. According to an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, the four teens were “armed with a knife, guns and a roll of tape” and also had “latex gloves, facial masks and dark clothing” in their vehicle.

During the investigation, the sheriff’s department discovered the teens had planned to kidnap the daughter, “head to her house, confront and subdue her father – who they believed to be wealthy – and rob the home.”

After the investigation, the four suspects – who were identified as Austin French, 17, Kamauri Horn, 15, Keilon Johnson, 19, and Tyree Johnson, 16 – were charged with attempted kidnapping and attempted home invasion robbery.

According to the statement, “19-year-old Keilon Johnson was booked into the Okaloosa County Jail. The other defendants were transferred to a Department of Juvenile Justice facility.”
