The incident took place outside of the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC. According to a report by the Daily Mail, some of the teens involved are believed to be about 13 or 14 years old.
On Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police Department released the video of the attack hoping that the public could help them identify the boys and girls involved in the assault.
In the footage, the teens can be seen exchanging words with the male tourist before one of the boys punches the man, knocking him backward.
At that point, other boys and girls get involved, punching and kicking the man repeatedly as he lay defenseless on the ground outside of the hotel’s doors.
After a time, the group disperses, leaving the victim on the sidewalk.
The man managed to make his way into the hotel, and law enforcement was contacted.
The victim, whose name has yet to be released, suffered multiple head injuries, including one to his left eye socket. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
The Washington Hilton Hotel is renown in the Washington DC political scene, often hosting presidents and foreign dignitaries as well as serving as the site for a variety of high-profile events, including the White House Correspondents Dinner.
In 1981, it was the site where then-President Ronald Reagan was shot by a man attempting to assassinate him.
A room at the hotel, which is just 12 blocks from the White House, typically starts at $210 per night.
Police have asked that anyone who may be able to identify the suspects to come forward and contact the department.
