Patton Oswalt was tapped to host this year’s Writers Guild of America awards and during his opening monologue he took a couple of opportunities to bash President Donald Trump.
However, in an apparently totally unscripted moment, noted conservative actor and Twitter commentator James Woods climbed onto the stage and called Oswalt out.

During the start of the monologue Oswalt joked about the need for homeland security and said that security at the event was being protected by two Russian soldiers, an obvious hint at the Trump administration’s alleged ties to Russia.
After a few other comments, Oswalt then said he wanted to be careful about what he said about the newly elected President, “I want to be very careful making jokes about [Trump] because I don’t want to be kicked to death by James Woods backstage. Which would be an honor by the way. That guy is amazing.”
Around that time, James Woods actually stood up and approached the stage and proceeded to call out Oswalt for his choice in footwear.
Woods then joked than he lost half of his [conservative] Twitter following just for attending the awards show. All in all, Woods continued to show that there are conservatives in all walks of life, even Hollywood in a funny, lighthearted way.
Following the show, Oswalt tweeted that the incident was not scripted and gave some more info:
Oswalt even gave James Woods some props:
