The Chinese vlogger was filming a clip on Kuaishou, a popular social media platform in China that allows people to upload short video clips, according to a report by the Daily Mail. She was trying to eat an octopus while it was still alive, but the creature didn’t go down without a fight.
Near the beginning of the clip, the octopus was already attached to the woman’s face. However, the vlogger – who goes by “seaside girl Little Seven” on the platform – didn’t seem concerned initially.
“Look how hard it’s sucking,” the woman says as she tries to pull a tentacle from her upper lip.
When she realized that the octopus wasn’t going to just let go, the woman panicked. She began pulling harder and screamed out in pain as she tried to detach the animal’s tentacles from of her cheek, nose, and eyelid.
“Painful,” she shouted. “I can’t remove it.”
The vlogger’s skin stretched as she tried to pry the octopus off of her face. After a quick struggle, the creature lets go.
“I’ll eat it in the next video,” she says while clutching the octopus in her hands. Then, she notices a small wound on her cheek.
“My face is disfigured,” she cried.
Commenters on Weibo, a Twitter-like platform that is popular in China, mocked her for trying to eat the octopus alive.
“She deserves it,” said one Weibo user. “She tried to eat the octopus, and the octopus tried to eat her too.”
Another chimed in, stating, “An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth.”
