Jahangir Turan, a New York City art gallery owner, stated the attack took place Tuesday at around 7 pm. Turan claimed in the police report he was walking down a southern Manhatten sidewalk when 15 to 18 teens walked past him. One female teen allegedly knocked off Turan’s “MAGA” hat that he had just purchased from Trump Tower earlier in the day, the Daily Mail reported.

As he bent down to pick it up, Turan alleged the teens began beating him and yelling “F*** Trump” and other “anti-Trump stuff.” In addition to the attack, Turan claimed one of the teens picked him up and slammed his face into a nearby pole.

Turan suffered a swollen and bruised eye, along with a fractured cheekbone. After the attack, Turan stated he went across the street and called the cops who filed a police report. He refused medical attention at the scene and opted to visit his own doctor instead to determine if he sustained any permanent damage to his eye, NBC New York reported.

According to Turan, the teens were still in the vicinity making anti-Trump remarks when the officers arrived but they did not intervene or stop them.

“[It’s] kind of ridiculous, to get beat up like this for wearing a hat,” he continued. “I wanted to put it on my TV stand. I had no intentions of wearing it in New York City, because it’s dangerous to wear a hat like this in New York City.”

Turan made it clear he is a devout supporter of Trump. “I love Trump,” Turan said. “I think he’s doing a great job.”

The police report has conflicted much of what Turan claimed happened, stating Turan did not have a “MAGA” hat with him at the time of the police interview, and they observed no individuals in the vicinity chanting anti-Trump rhetoric.
