Six-year-old Mason was playing in his driveway with two of his neighbors when a loose pit bull attacked. Grant Brown, a 19-year-old who lived down the street, heard Mason screaming, and rushed toward the sound. Then, when he saw the dog attacking the boy, he took action. The entire incident was recorded by nearby security cameras.

Mason, according to a report by KPRC, was in the driveway of his family’s house in Conroe, Texas, on Sunday when he was attacked by the loose pit bull.
“My son was just laying on the ground. He’s six” said Mason’s mother, Jillian Lindeman. “He kind of knows what to do but he’s never been put in a situation like that.”
Brown lived only a few houses away from Mason and was outside when he heard Mason scream.
“As soon as I noticed, I just ran over there without thinking, and I didn’t know how, but I knew I had to get the dog off of the boy,” said Brown.
When the pit bull saw Brown approach, he turned his attention away from Mason and charged at Brown. Brown attempted to run, drawing the dog away from Mason in the process, but the dog caught up and knocked him to the ground.
Mason was able to run inside.
“All I see is my son running up to me and he’s got his hand on his head and there blood coming down and everything,” said Lindeman.
Brown grappled with the dog for several seconds, trying to fend off the attack.
“The dog was on top of me before I knew it, and I knew I had to keep his mouth away from me,” said Brown.
He suffered a cut to his hand, but he was able to get away.
Mason had sustained a bite to the back of his head. He had to get staples to close the wound. Mason also had bruises from the dog attack, including some on his face.
“I just want to give [Brown] a hug, there’s nothing I can do but just say thank you,” said Lindeman of Brown’s heroic efforts.
Reportedly, the dog was handed over to animal control. The owner of the pit bull was cited over the incident.
