Speaker of the House Nacy Pelosi had an interview on CBS 60 Minutes Sunday night where she covered a range of topics including how she doesn’t see the Democratic party turning to socialism anytime soon. What was more interesting were the multiple swipes she took at freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez who is often outspoken with her ideology.

CBS’ Lesley Stahl conducted the interview with the 79-year-old Pelosi where she brought up the self-proclaimed socialist, Ocasio-Cortez. “You have these wings – AOC, and her group on one side,” Stahl begins to ask her.
Pelosi doesn’t even let Stahl finish her question before she injects. “That’s like five people,” Pelosi said. Stahl quickly retorts: “No, it’s – the progressive group is more than five,” Stahl said as she held firm on the question.
It’s unclear which “group” Stahl is asking about, but it’s safe to assume she was referring to the “Justice Democrats,” which has seven members, including Ocasio-Cortez, the Daily Mail reported.
Stahl quickly shifted gears and began talking about the aforementioned progressive groups and how they keep pushing to repeal Obamacare with Medicare for all. The speaker noted she thinks the Affordable Care Act can still work, but she made sure every American knows where the Democratic party stands on the matter.
“I do reject socialism as an economic system. If people have that view, that’s their view,” she said. “That is not the view of the Democratic Party.”
Can the Speaker of the House unify the Democratic party while getting pushback from the left and self-described democratic socialists like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez? https://t.co/f4VUYTYIdw pic.twitter.com/a9wOobPj5g

This isn’t the first time that Pelosi has taken a few swipes at Ocasio-Cortez. In March, Pelosi explained how she didn’t care if these incoming Congressmen and women had large social media followings. “While there are people who have a large number of Twitter followers, what’s important is that we have a large number of votes on the floor of the house.”
Pelosi didn’t call Ocasio-Cortez by name, but it was evident who she was referring to. According to Ocasio-Cortez’s Twitter, she had 3.87 million Twitter followers to Pelosi’s 2.42 million. President Trump, who was watching the interview Sunday night, did little to hide his true thoughts on what he called a total “fluff piece.”
It seems the Democrats may have more pressing issues within their own ranks than worrying about the Republicans.
