Mexico Deploying Army to US Border to Stop Illegal Immigration

When Donald Trump ran for president in 2016, he ran on the promise that he would stop or, at least, slow down the large influx of illegal immigrants pouring in from Mexico. Solving this problem would be impossible unless Mexico began helping from their side of the border as well. It now seems they are now doing exactly that by sending 15,000 troops to the border.

On Monday, Mexican Secretary of Defense Luis Sandoval announced that he was deploying a large group of troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in part to help America with its seemingly never-ending illegal immigrant issue.

Sandoval stated: “In the northern part of the country, we have deployed a total of almost 15,000 troops composed of National Guard elements and military units.”

CNN reporter Nick Valencia announced in a series of tweets the details of the agreement between the two countries.

“Mexico has deployed almost 15,000 troops to the US-Mexico border to curve migration flow,” Valencia wrote. “An additional ~2,000 National Guard elements have also been deployed across the country’s southern border with Guatemala & Belize.: MX Secretary of Defense Luis Sandoval.”

Valencia was just as surprised as everyone else as he tweeted: “I have never seen this kind of cooperation from Mexico before in terms of immigration.”

Earlier this year, Mexico stated they would have no part in assisting the U.S. with its immigrant issue. But after realizing that Trump’s threat of tariffs would greatly injure their economy, Mexico apparently changed its mind.

According to the Daily Wire, the tariffs were set to increase five percent every month until one of two things happened: Either Mexico helped the U.S. with its immigration issue or they would need to prepare for up to 25 percent tariffs, which could easily devastate their already struggling economy.

On May 30th, Trump tweeted: “On June 10th, the United States will impose a 5% Tariff on all goods coming into our Country from Mexico, until such time as illegal migrants coming through Mexico, and into our Country, STOP. The Tariff will gradually increase until the Illegal Immigration problem is remedied, at which time the Tariffs will be removed. Details from the White House to follow.”

Trump held Mexico’s feet to the coals which allowed the U.S. to finally get a handle on the illegal immigrant issue that has been plaguing this country.
