It’s no secret that breakups are hard, and plenty of people try to ease that pain by having a nice adult beverage. However, one man didn’t just sit down with a nice bottle of scotch, aiming to drown his sorrows. Instead, he reviews it for his YouTube channel, all while his wife is packing her things in the background.

In the video, which was posted on July 10, 2015, but only recently went viral, the man explains, “It is Friday morning. I’ve had a reasonably successful week at work, and this Friday morning I’m relaxing and maybe celebrating a little bit.”

“You can see that things are in a little bit of disarray back there,” he continues. “Well, Cindy and I are breaking up. She’s moving out and the way I can enjoy that, I spent a lot…no, it’s hard, it’s really f***ing hard.”

“But I’m gonna have some Laphroaig 10,” the man adds. Then, he starts to review the scotch.

“Laphroaig 10 has been my go-to single malt for many years now,” the man says, “especially when it comes to peated Islay malts.”

“I like this stuff because it’s just no compromises, just give me the smoke, give me the peat.”

While he is discussing the scotch, Cindy is moving around in the background. She grabs the occasional box, moves items around, and more or less acts like he isn’t there.

However, she does pause at one moment and seems to blow her nose, suggesting she may be pretty upset about the breakup herself.

He does take a whiff of the scotch, but admits he doesn’t smell much, wondering if his “sniffer is out of whack.”

The man tries again, and notes that he is getting the right aroma, saying, “Here it comes, here it comes.”

He continues to describe the scotch but, at about the 2:19 mark in the video, Cindy interrupts, offering an abrupt, “Bye.”

The man says “bye” back, then jumps back into the review as she walks out the door.

He then begins describing the kinds of movies he plans on watching, including some to help him “relive my youth a little bit.”

After a moment, he focuses back on his drink, closing out the video, which now has over 1.4 million views, by recommending Laphroaig 10 to anyone watching.
