Recently, Israel bought three of the “near invisible” F-35 stealth fighter jets from Lockheed Martin bringing their total number of fighters to five. Nations around the world have been paying close attention to the fighter jet, and now reports indicate the F-35 has been combat tested by Israel in Syria one month after getting them.

A French news editor, George Malbrunot, who works at Le Figaro, reported on January 12 that three of the five F-35’s have been tested and used in combat missions, according to Business Insider.
The successful combat mission entailed taking out one of Russians “state of the art” S-300 air defense systems that was located around Syria’s President Bashar Assad’s palace.
This is not the first time that Isreal has launched air strikes on Syria, but it is the first reported time that they used the state of the art F-35. Israel has publicly stated that they will do “anything and everything” to make sure weapons cannot reach the terrorist group Hezbollah, which is hell bent on destroying Israel.
The story could be completely fabricated as the only S-300 system in Syria is operated by Russians. If the strike happened the way it was reported, there would have been word of Russian personal death and surely a response from Putin.
Another airstrike happened on Thursday, and once again, Syria has blamed Israel for the strike. The second airstrike adds more probability that the story is true as the Syria government wouldn’t publicly accept getting hit by an airstrike for no reason.
There was an airstrike reported at the Mezzeh Air Base, which BBC . Author Jeff Halper wrote a book about the military ties and growing relationship between Israel and the US. The book outlined that since the relationship and bond between the two countries have been so strong, it was predicted that Israeli pilots would become the first to see combat with the F-35.

There are too many unknowns about the F-35 as it hasn’t been widely combat tested in the field. The stealth capabilities, in particular, have questions marks around them as they were tested in a closed environment.
If the Israel airstrike did happened. they would be able to further cement the notion put forth by the US that the stealth capabilities of this fighter are the best the world has ever seen. Until more nations buy the plane and it can be put to test, it’s purely speculation.
