A 60-year-old man was sleeping in his van with his wife and son when he heard a loud knock outside the door. Once he opened the door, an AK-47 was shoved in his face, with an unknown person demanding his jewelry. The van owner pushed the barrel to the side and shot the suspect 14 times with his concealed weapon.

Donovan Stewart, a Jamaican native who now lives in Miami, told CBS Miami about this terrifying encounter. “This guy I killed last night he just push a AK-47 in my f***ing face. And as a guy born in Kingston Town I’m not gunna go out like a punk,” he said in a thick accent.
Stewart was a former security officer who said his training and quick action saved him. According to Stewart, he grabbed his Glock sitting next to him and proceeded to unload 14 bullets into the would-be robber.
The suspect, who was not named, died at the scene from his injuries. “This man knock on my door while I’m dead asleep… I said all right, this is what’s gunna happen now. You’re gunna kill me? I’m gunna kill you. Let’s see,” he said.
“So, quick thinking, quick reflex, I’m trained. I’m a security officer, I got a [gun] license, I got a concealed weapon license, and I’m a member of the NRA.”
He added: “You don’t just wake up in the morning and push an AK-47 up my nose and think you’re gunna live. No. They tried the wrong person with that.”
Police investigated the shooting and took Stewart’s van for evidence. Stweart has been cooperative in the investigation, with officers releasing him shortly after they interviewed him, the Daily Mail reported.
During a press conference, police told the media that Stewart had numerous concealed carry permits and was acting on the “stand your ground” law, which allows an individual to use lethal force on a perceived threat.
Officers think the victim had robbed another person in the area the night prior. That woman says she is relieved that this individual would never rob anyone again.
