The Cavaghan and Gray, a food factory in Carsile,Cumbria, has begun turning its left over potatoes peelings into steam and electricity.

The ‘first-of-its-kind’ potato-powered bio-generator is expected to generate enough power for 850 homes a year. The left overs are harvested from frozen meals before their sending.

The Carsile factory hopes to save 35,000 tons in carbon savings per year and slash its carbon footprint by 20%.
