One of Donald Trump’s main media supporters, Fox News, has started to turn on the newly elected president. After Trump’s most recent interview where he continued to berate the media for “fake news” and “misinformation” to the public, even a Fox commentator spoke out.

In the interview and subsequent Tweets that followed, the leader of the free world cited The New York Times,  NBC News, ABC News, and CNN as all fake news and called the media an “enemy of the American people.” Fox News is not on Trump ‘s list of “fake news” sources.

However, Fox New, which caters to pro-republican spun news, seemingly has had enough of Trump’s antics. ‘Fox News Sunday’ anchor Chris Wallace, appearing as a guest on ‘Fox and Friends’ responded to a question, stating Trump “has crossed the line.”

A recording of  Sen. John McCain was implemented into the segment where he outlined the history of dictatorship, a history that usually starts with quieting the press and not allowing them to voice concerns about the government or its officials.

It’s important to note, McCain didn’t claim that this is what POTUS was doing, but he said, historically, this is a first step for dictators and we should learn from history.

Wallace said that the president clashing with the press is nothing new. What Wallace did have a problem with was calling the media the enemy of the American people.

“Look, we’re big boys. We criticize presidents. They want to criticize us back, that’s fine. But when he said that the fake news media is not my enemy, it’s the enemy of the American people, I believe that crosses an important line.”

Wallace later had the White House Chief Of Staff, Reince Priebus, on his show as a guest, where he promptly inform him that the Trump administration and himself have no right to tell the press what to do any more than Obama did.

indy100  made a list of notable/historic figures that tried to “quiet the press.” The list was compiled of leaders such as Richard Nixon, Adolf Hitler, and Joseph Stalin.

Apparently any talk of “quieting the media” will cause even a pro-Trump powerhouse such as Fox News to take a stand. It will be interesting to see how this turn of events plays out.
