Social media users were outraged after reading a story about a child’s birthday party. An entitled mother held a Build-A-Bear party for her daughter, inviting the guests to come and make their own stuffed animal creations. But, after the building was done, the birthday girl’s mother did something shocking that left several children in tears.

This week, according to a report by the Daily Mail, a story made its way onto Reddit. A user – posting under the name “namenerd77” – shared the tale of a six-year-old’s birthday party taking an unexpected turn.

She said the party, which took place on a Saturday, was hosted by the mother of one of her daughter’s friends. In total, eight children were invited and, on the invitation, it said that they would each need to participate in the making of a creation.

“The party was being held at Build a Bear, but it wasn’t run by the employees,” she stated. “We had cake and pizza in the food court, then went down to BAB to make bears, then back to friends house for the rest of the party.”

“I just assumed they would get to take [the stuffed animals] home, since that is what happened at another BAB party I went to.”

She added that her family “even pitched in about 30 dollars” to help with the party, noting that she understood “these things can get expensive.”

As the kids crafted their creations, she told her daughter not to be too greedy when it came to accessories, even though no spending limit was given by the birthday girl’s mother.

Once everyone had finished with their stuffed animals, things took an unexpected turn.

“We leave the store, then friends mom announces that the kids need to give all their animals to her daughter,” she said. “Cue the upset and angry kids.”

“They all disappointingly handed over their animals, and friend wasn’t even being nice about it either,” she continued. “Another little boy didn’t want to, and friend ripped it out of his hands.”

“I probably should have said something, but I didn’t,” she added. “The other parents seemed pretty baffled too.”

All of the children then headed to the birthday girl’s home, where they all had to watch her playing with the toys they created.

“I left with my daughter pretty quickly, and once we got back into the car she just started bawling,” she said. “I felt bad so we went to Build-A-Bear and got her a new one.”

She also noted that her family had already given the birthday girl a gift, which made this even more surprising.

Once the story made its way to Twitter, many users expressed their outrage, calling the birthday girl’s mother “a psychopath” and saying she “will also probably pay someone else to take her S.A.T’s and photoshop her pictures to a rowing team.”

The post on Twitter racked up hundreds of comments, the vast majority of which seemed to support the woman’s feelings of anger over how her daughter and the other children who were invited were treated.
