Sandra Lee, a doctor and dermatologist who earned the nickname Dr. Pimple Popper, has a massive following on social media. She shares videos and images on skin care, most notably those that adhere to her namesake, showing pimples being popped. Now, Lee has announced a new venture that brings the excitement of pimple popping to the masses.
Dr. Pimple Popper’s board game, listed as suitable for players who are 5 years old and up, is called Pimple Pete.
The premise seems similar to the classic board game, Operation, and includes a giant zit in the middle of Pete’s nose that will intermittently spray platers during the course of gameplay.
Players use a spinner to figure out where on Pete’s face they need to try and pop a zit. If they apply to much pressure, the massive nose zit sprays them with water.
The description on the box reads: “Turn after turn the anticipation and nervous giggles increase as players wait to see who might be squirted with a surprise burst of pimple juice!”
The premise will likely be considered gross by many but is likely to garner a lot of attention. For those interested in playing the game, it will be available for purchase in early August.
Lee also announced that she would soon have a show on TLC where she will assist people with their skin care issues.
“In the series, we follow the patients,” said Lee.
“I don’t really see this in my practice. I don’t really see how a bump on someone really affects his or her life, so it’s really nice to see this go full circle.”
“Even though, to some people, it might be considered kind of gruesome or gross, it’s actually a really happy thing, a feel-good thing,” she continued. “It is an amazing process. I’m kind of freaked out, though, because…I mean, this is crazy to me. It’s pimple popping.”
