Recording the birth of a child is a monumental moment that can be relived over and over, but one couple is having a difficult time enjoying that moment. Their video captured the doctor dropping their newborn baby on her head in the delivery room. After a lack of apology or concern, the couple posted the video on social media.

Derrick and Monique Rodgers posted the video to their Facebook after they were frustrated with the doctor’s lack of concern that he had just dropped their premature newborn on her head. “I feel like she was treated like a sack of potatoes,” Monique said.
Derrick, who was recording the video, approached the doctor to express his dismay. “I told him, ‘You dropped my baby,’” Derrick said. “He had like a nonchalant look on his face. Then I showed him the video, and he had nothing to say after that.”
Morgan and Madison, twins who were born on Valentines Day, were born minutes apart. Morgan, who weighed only three pounds and four ounces at the time of her birth, was the one dropped in the video, ABC15 reported.
“I kind of promised myself that I would never watch that video again,” Monique, who is still reeling from the incident, said. Morgan had an ultrasound conducted on her which revealed she suffered “a grade one germinal matrix small bleed.”
The family claimed they were not notified about the bleed for over six weeks. Derrick and Monique are concerned that Morgan may have been injured further from the drop.
“She does this like tensing up and her body kind of shakes,” said Monique. “I would like to know if this was due to her having a low birth weight or if it was due to her being dropped on her head.”
According to ABC 8, the family is looking to possibly take legal action. “You know, an apology when it happened could’ve gone a long way,” said Monique.
“I just wanted people to know what happened to my baby,” she said. “As a mother, you’re supposed to be there to protect her and I felt like I wasn’t there to protect her when she was born. I couldn’t stop them from being rough with her or him holding her with one hand, I couldn’t stop him. I don’t know if she’ll be hurt for the rest of her life.”
