A Georgia couple that was caught on camera beating up a restaurant owner and her teenage daughter have pleaded guilty. Nathaniel Smith, 45, and Latasha Smith, 28, entered their pleas on Friday. The charges were aggravated assault and cruelty to children. The pair were upset, they claim, because they were sold cold fried chicken.

The chicken was cold, and the couple had not been given enough fries, but Norris still refunded their money. The Smiths, though, were still not pleased. According to Jeanette, the couple went “berserk” and began hitting the store’s window. When Jeanette went outside to tell the couple that the police had been notified, the Smiths became enraged.

Surveillance cameras recorded Latasha Smith beating Jeanette Norris, the owner of the Qwik Chick, in Baxley, Georgia on June 22.

When Norris’s 15-year-old daughter stepped out of a truck¬† to intervene on behalf of her mother, Nathaniel Smith punched her in the face.

The hit sent the petite-framed girl hurling backwards, and she is seen stumbling and having trouble keeping her balance. Customers who saw the incident began to comfort the young girl and began tending to Jeanette. Shortly before the video ends, the 15-year-old breaks down into tears.

Jeanette Norris came away with a broken nose. Her daughter was treated for a concussion.

One customer, who couldn’t believe what he’d just witnessed, told a local Georgia news outlet, “Who does that? Who punches a child like she’s a grown man standing there? He needs putting in jail.”

Chief James Godfrey of the Baxley Police Department described what he saw on the video as “just pure brutality.”

After the video of the incident went viral, the Smiths turned themselves in. Sentencing will come soon.

A note on the video below. The incident occurred in June of 2017, not 2010. The clock on the security system had not been set correctly.
