BREAKING: Explosions and Gunfire Reported at Major European Airport [LIVE FEED]

UPDATE: 3:55PM: Latest casualty reports indicate that 40 people have been wounded and 10 people are dead. Ataturk airport is the third busiest airport in Europe.

UPDATE: 3:50PM: Officials say the suspects detonated suicide bombs before entering a security checkpoint.

UPDATE: 3:48PM: Reuters is reporting that a Turkish official has reported that the attacks were carried out by two suicide bombers. Gun shots were reported by witnesses. It is possible the gunshots could have been gunfire by security personnel.

UPDATE: 3:46PM: Officials say as many as 40+ people may have been wounded. Some reports indicate that the explosions may have occurred outside of the airport at an initial security checkpoint. Some vehicles and bags are screened before even entering the airport.


UPDATE 3:38PM: Turkish officials believe the explosions might have been the result of a suicide attack. This is not yet confirmed.

ORIGINAL COVERAGE: According to multiple reports, explosion and possible gunfire rocked a major European airport late on Tuesday. The apparent attack on the Ataturk airport in Istanbul, Turkey has been confirmed by the Turkish interior ministry said.

It is unclear if there are active attackers still at the airport.

Multiple injuries are currently being reported.

The airport lies in the European part of Istanbul.
