The video was filmed by a Ryanair passenger, according to a report by the Daily Mail. The flight was leaving Ibiza for Madrid.
In the footage, the baggage handler can be clearly seen opening a suitcase that is sitting on a luggage cart in the aircraft loading area.
He attempts to be discrete while opening the luggage, but the passenger filming the man catches every move on camera.
After opening the suitcase, the baggage handler then rummages around in the bag before removing a red speaker. Then, he takes the speaker and places it in a pocket in his pants.
Finally, the man zips up his pants pocket, attempting to hide the speaker from view.
The baggage handler involved in the incident was reportedly only on the job for three days. He is now facing trial and is believed to have been fired.
The stolen item, a speaker owned by a teenage boy on the flight, was returned after the baggage handler confessed to stealing it.
“The police told me it was the third day the man had been working at the airport and returned the speaker to me immediately,” said the boy’s mother, who was traveling with him.
“I was very grateful because I had bought it for my son’s birthday.”
