A man was arrested after video emerged showing him throwing a 12-year-old boy to the ground after catching the child filming his wife with a cell phone. The boy, Alex Anderson, was circling William Conte’s wife’s vehicle while filming and shouting at her, capturing footage of the SUV’s license plate. Conte confronted Anderson, leading to the altercation.

Anderson claimed that on Tuesday, he and some friends were riding their bikes in Dix Hills, Long Island when they saw Conte’s wife, who was in a black SUV filming them.

In the video, Anderson can be heard saying, “Do I care?” as he approaches the driver’s side door. “Does it look like I care? Got this person’s license plate.”

Another boy can be heard calling Conte’s wife a “pedophile.”

“Do you like taking pictures of little children?” said the other boy. “Are you a pedophile? Do you enjoy touching little kids?”

Just after Anderson calls the woman a “low life,” Conte charges at him and knocks him to the ground. Conte can be heard cursing, and he smashes Anderson’s cellphone on the ground as Anderson cries out for help.

“After it happened, I was scared and worried what he was going to do next,” said Anderson in an interview after the incident, according to a report by the Daily Mail.

According to Michael Shain, a neighbor who witnessed the events as they unfolded, the incident began after the boys attempted to throw a dead snake into Conte’s wife’s SUV. The woman had her two children in the car with her at the time.

“There’s video of these kids running around with their bikes, stopping cars, getting in front of cars where they almost basically force you to hit them,” said Shain. “These kids are not innocent by any means. They started it, and unfortunately, the father went to protect his wife and two small kids.”

Anderson’s father, Christian, defended the boys, saying, “They didn’t do anything vicious. Even if they throw a rock at the car, it doesn’t justify beating up a child. It just doesn’t.”

Conte was ultimately taken into custody. Anderson suffered a head injury during the altercation, has a cast on his arm, and a bandaged ankle.
