Call of Duty players like to tout their tactical prowess, but what happens when these hardcore gamers get handed some real tactical gear?
Thanks to Buzzfeed, we have a little insight into the answer.
They brought up four gamers and got them talking about Call of Duty.
Then they brought in former Marine and Army Special Forces operator Chase Millsap to walk them through their gear. First, it was the plate carrier with body armor – 4 ceramic plates known as SAAPI plates.
“This will stop, normally, like an AK-47 bullet. But you’re gonna feel it. It’ll knock you down and bruise you up a little bit,” Millsap explains.
The gamers were already complaining about the 25 pounds of the plate carrier, but Millsap wasn’t done. He loaded up the rig with magazines and other kit, and set up an obstacle course for the gamers.
Once they were in full uniform and gear, one of the gamers quickly noted that it “feels a little weird, a little wrong. I’m not deserving of this uniform.”
Given their assignment of a simulated rescue mission, the gamers felt their Call of Duty experience would help them through.
They were wrong.
Overall, they did about as well as you expect.
