A motorist with a thirst for Guiness is being hailed a hero after pulling up behind a police speed camera and blocking it’s view with his truck.

The driver pulled his grey Porsche up behind a police van with an attached speed camera, opened his truck, and walked off to a local pub, leaving the camera unable to catch speeding drivers.

A bystander in Hemel Hempstead saw it happen, took a picture, and posted it to social media, writing: “Someone just parked in front of a speed camera, lifted his boot so nobody could get caught speeding. Then went to the pub across the road.”

Once the picture hit photo-sharing site Imgur, it went viral, with more than 2 million people viewing the picture – many of the complimenting the mystery hero for his good deed.

Of course, some users described the act as “childish”, and many American users were confused as to what a ‘boot’ was and how it could block a camera.”.

Thankfully, one American commented: “My Top Gear training informs me that my car wears a bonnet and a boot.”

The identity of the driver is unknown, but it is believed there is often a speed camera van parked on the residential street.
