Proud American Mike Rowe has given his take on numerous hot topic issues ranging from gun control to President Trump. But none of his remarks may have been more poignant than when he sat down with Tucker Carlson Friday night and spoke on why the majority of Americans are dissatisfied with their lives.

“Look, the best-selling books right now in the self-help section and in general claim to have the solution for how you can work less,” the former host of “Dirty Jobs” said.
“Most of the commercials on TV ask a tacit question, you know, how could you be happier? And the answer, of course, is retire a little sooner or work 35 instead of 40 hours.”
Rowe knows all about working hard as he has covered some of the hardest and dirtiest jobs in America. He goes on to express how the media tries to find a way for Americans to cut corners or to do work the easiest way possible.
“If there is one enduring lesson from Dirty Jobs, it’s the fact that those people as a group are having a better time and were more connected to their work than the vast majority of people I know who make great white collar livings,” Rowe said.
“It’s just an inconvenient truth, if you will pardon the bromide, but it’s out there and there is a lot of hope in it.”
Simply, Rowe wants people to understand the value of work and why it is so important. He says people may be happier in their lives if they appreciate the work they are doing. Rowe knows a thing or two about what it takes to work jobs that are not easy and admits that not every day will be fulfilling.
People have been trained to hate work. Some of that could be attributed to the daily duties involved in certain jobs, but Rowe hit the nail on the head when he put some of the blame on the media. He said the media tends to encourage people to find the easiest work possible in order to be happy. Maybe we’ve got it backwards.
