Morris Sana, 87, and Simon Mairowitz, 85, were cousins in Romania in 1940 when Germany overthrew their government. Morris, who lives in Isreal, was separated from Mairowitz as they fled the then Nazi-occupied country.

The two were inseparable as children and played together almost every day. As the years passed, the two would talk about each other often sharing fond memories of their childhood. But recently relatives found out through Facebook that both cousins were still alive.

On September 26, relatives set up for the two to meet in person. The video was posted on Leetal Ofer’s Facebook pageMorris’ granddaughter. Ofer described the reunion on her Facebook page.

“This is one of the most moving things I’ve ever seen and I’d love to share it with you. My mom recently found some of her long lost cousins on Facebook. To make a long story short. My grandfather couldn’t find his cousin and best friend after the Holocaust and was sure that he was killed at the concentration camps,” she wrote.

“He hasn’t seen or heard from his cousin in 75 years. We were able to arrange for the cousins to meet today. The war tore so many families apart and to bring them together in Israel is so magical,” she added.

As Morris is led into the room where his cousin sat waiting, you can see he began to get emotional as waves of memories rush over him. The man he thought was dead was sitting right in front of him.

At one point, Morris can be heard saying: “Good to see you too after all these years. 75 years you waited. It’s a long time, but we’ve got each other now.”
