Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas tradition in many households with young children. One father of six thought it would be fun to use his newly born child as an actual elf on the shelf. He posted his results on the internet for all to see, and it’s safe to say everyone was genuinely impressed.
Alan Lawrence was looking at his four-month-old son Rockwell in the weeks leading up to Christmas and saw a striking resemblance between the elf doll and his son. Alan, who has a blog of his own, began documenting some of his son’s “mischevious deeds.”
Lawrence’s wife was a good sport through the ordeal and contributed by making the adorable costume her baby boy dons.
“All of our friends do the Elf on the Shelf and I’ve always thought it was sort of creepy, but sort of fun — this idea of an elf coming to live in your home and moving around to different places,” Lawrence told USA Today. “And I’m like, what if it was a real elf? And of course, being parents, we already have the cutest little 4-month-old. So we decided to make a fun series.”
For the remaining weeks leading up to Christmas Day, Lawrence posted a photo every day of his son sitting in a different place in their home. His little elf on the shelf has gotten into his fair share of mischief since he took on the holiday icon.
Keep in mind, this is Rockwell’s father recounts of what happened. We are only getting one side of the story.
According to Bored Panda, little Rockwell turned the family toilet into a Christmas gift, “chugged” maple syrup and even tried to jam cookies into the family VCR.
The internet caught wind of Lawrence’s idea and found it to be just about the most adorable thing on the internet, and we have to agree.
