Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity, MGM has announced the third Bill and Ted film in the series is underway. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the third film will be called, “Bill & Ted Face the Music” and will have Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter reprising their roles as the iconic duo.
The film is currently in the pre-production phase and will showcase the time traveling duos as middle-aged men who deal with the daily responsibilities of raising a family. The duo is tasked with saving the universe after they’re visited by a stranger from another time who claims they need to write the perfect song.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get the whole band back together again,” Reeves and Winter said. “Chris and Ed wrote an amazing script, and with Dean at the helm we’ve got a dream team!”
Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, who were the original creators of the cult classic, have been working on the script for quite some time now. According to Comic Book Movie, the two have been working on the script since 2010.
In early 2018, Solomon hinted at the idea of a third film by stating, “We’ve been to the altar a few times. We get rejected right about the ‘now you may kiss the bride’ part of it.”
Fans have been waiting for 27 years to see Ted “Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston on the big screen again, but from the sound of it, they may not have to wait much longer.
