Once hailed as the future of combustion engines, rotary engines have become synonymous with brilliant designs that never live up to all of their promise.
Compared to the violent thrashing, clunking motions of a piston engine, rotary’s are simply elegant.
Engineers must have cheered and had nerd high fives going around the room for a full 10 seconds after they first finished building one. And then they realized that rotary engines eat up a mind-boggling amount of lubricant, aren’t particularly economical, and are prone to spectacular failure.
But none of that matters with Aliaksei Zholner’s collection of paper based engine models. They are simply spectacular.
