It’s one of Star Wars most iconic scenes, the moment Ben Kenobi reveals to Luke Skywalker that he is actually Jedi-in-hiding Obi Wan Kenobi (the Jedi suck ad fake names). But what are we to make of all of Obi Wan’s quiet moments where he seems lost in thought?

Thanks to a new short, we may have some insight into what the ersatz Jedi master was so caught up in.

Appropriately titles “Obi Wan Remembers the Truth”, the 1:11 second clip revists that scene and makes Sir Alec Guinness’s thoughtful pauses and contemplative looks seem even more fitting.

Fans have long discussed Obi Wan’s giving a candy coated version of the truth in the scene, such as telling Luke that his father was killed by “a young Jedi named Darth Vader, who was a pupil of mine before he turned to evil” who “betrayed and murdered” Luke’s father.

The video’s creator, YouTuber Shahan Reviews, added the fitting subheading “What I told you was true, from a certain point of view”

Commenters on the video have given rave reviews, although some have taken to some fun ad libs about what Obi Wan should have said.
