We have found the best comet. Everyone else go home. Every bar too. We have alchol. From space.
The comet Lovejoy is composed, astronomers say, of ethyl alcohol, the same kind we use in drinks. In fact, astronomer Nicolas Biver estimates the equivalent of 500 bottles of wine is sent out…every second. With that much alcohol just going to waste, maybe space brewerys should invest as quickly as space mining.
The comet is also the first to be seen raining sugars and alcohol through out the stars, making it another possible source of the complex molecules that might have created life on earth as we know it. If so, then the Simpsons may have been right all along.
