As the identity of the ballpark shooter comes to light, a profile of a hateful man is developing. Many of the pundits and politicians who have openly addressed the shooting are hesitant to ascribe a political motive, but James T. Hodgkinson clearly was a political person. And one of the groups he belonged to is celebrating the shootings.
The Daily Caller captured screenshots from the group that will surely disappear. The anti-Republican Facebook group counted James T. Hodgkinson as a member.
Hodgkinson shot Rep. Steve Scalise and four others during a GOP practice session for the annual congressional baseball game on Wednesday morning. The Facebook group “Terminate The Republican Party” was quick to respond to the shooting.
“And it’s one, two, three shots you’re out at the old ball game!!!” Mari-Ellen Cain posted.
“Lol…this was no surprise. We all knew this was gonna happen,” Darryl W. Riley replied.
“Maybe a few real good ones n they will start worrying bout people and not their buddies,” Robert Blanch added.
Hodgkinson own posts are now being poured over as authorities on the ground in Illinois are combing through the belongings he left behind.
“This country is full of hateful racists,” Hodgkinson wrote back in September.
Hodgkinson rhetoric and actions have separated him most in the Democratic party. Hodgkinson himself was a Bernie Sanders campaign worker during the 2016 campaign.
“Our prayers go out for a full recovery of Rep. Scalise, the congressional aides and police who were injured,” Mr Sanders said in a tweet. “We’ve got to stop the violence.”

“Let me be as clear as I can be. Violence of any kind is unacceptable in our society and I condemn this action in the strongest possible terms,” the Senator said.
