Despite a multitude of seemingly desperate moves such as picking Carly Fiorina as a Vice Presidential candidate while trailing in the primary, Ted Cruz got walloped in Indiana.
Now, he’s made a major announcement that just about locks up the Republican nomination for Donald Trump.
Cruz is suspending his campaign, effective immediately.
The loss in Indiana all but assured Donald Trump the nomination, and Cruz’s exit leaves only John Kasich as a possibly bulwark against Trump’s victory, but Kasich has drawn meager crowds and has tepid support while Trump has surged.
Earlier today, a poll emerged showing Trump beating likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in a head to head race, the first time any major poll has shown a Trump victory.
