The South Carolina Republican who infamously shouted “You Lie” at then-President Barack Obama got to experience what it was like to be on the receiving end of those words. US Rep. Joe Wilson began discussing healthcare reform during a town hall meeting when his own constituents began shouting back, including chants of “You Lie” and rounds of boos.

As reported by ABC News, Wilson faced outbursts from the crowd of approximately 200 as he spoke about issues surrounding health care as well as violence again women.
During the town hall, Wilson’s intention to vote in favor of the House GOP health care plan, the American Health Care Act, was known, bringing about jeers from those in attendance. Ultimately, that measure was pulled before the due to decreasing support and the risk of defeat.
Wilson also claimed he supports the local prosecutors who manage domestic violence cases, but previously voted against the extension of the Violence Against Women Act in 2013, resulting in some additional input from the crowd during his speech.
In 2009, Wilson made headlines when he shouted “you lie” at Obama during an address to a joint session of Congress that covered information about his health care proposal. He was reprimanded for his lack of decorum during the incident.
