A McDonough, Georgia Walmart has been accused of refusing to make a Blue Lives Matter cake for a retirement party for a police officer.

The employee stated the reason for refusal to make the pro-cop cake, decorated with a “police officer’s flag,” was because it was “racist.” What has this country come to?

Taylor Wilkes, a police officer from Georgia, initially shared his frustration, posting about it on Facebook. “My buddy’s sister went to Walmart in McDonough, GA to have a cake made for their father’s retirement party,” Wilkes said.

She asked Walmart to make a “thin blue line cake to commemorate his extensive and honorable service as a dedicated police officer.” Instead, she was refused service from the employees due to her request being deemed “racist.” She was appalled when she heard why she was being refused.

Wilkes added to her Facebook post, “People CHOOSE to make EVERYTHING about race. I’m so tired of it. It’s literally exhausting for me to think about now.” My friend told me, “I just wanted to make my dad a cake to show how much I appreciated him.” Truly, is that too much to ask?

After utter disbelief and a complaint to the store, the store manager finally got involved and offered to make the cake for Wilke’s friend. But there was just one problem — the cake decorators refused to comply,’ the manager claimed.

My friend received the cake and claimed, “it was atrocious and a complete embarrassment.” Once the story was made public on Facebook, it spread like wildfire. Many who were infuriated with the disrespect towards officers, started the hashtag movement #BOYCOTTWALMART.

‘Shame on you Walmart!!!!! Hopefully, you will take action upon your bakery department,’ Erik Fowler commented on the post.

However, another person claims the store’s manager told them the allegations were false.

“She was very polite, was familiar with the story, and denied that any of this was true,” David Sauls said.

“I asked her if I wanted to have the bakery decorate a cake depicting the thin blue line would they do it, and she said that they would be more than glad to, that it’s ridiculous for anyone to make this claim, and that she doesn’t understand why someone would make up such a claim.”

For the record, Walmart has confessed that most of her allegations are true. Walmart has since apologized for the refusal to make the cake.
