Look, sports aren’t meant to be safe. It’s one human against another in a primal battle for supremacy, usually involving a ball and some kind of goal. [Scroll Down For Video]
However, based on a new video that was put out by Mountain Dew, we’re pretty sure the next generation of sports will be a bit… different.
Drone hunting. Yep, drone hunting. And no, we don’t mean shooting at drones in a field with shotguns… although… No this style of drone hunting involves dirt bikes, nets and riding crops.
Based on the video, the rules seem pretty straightforward. Everyone starts mounted on a dirt bike and then a drone is released. We assume the pilot is flying by first person view somewhere safely out of the way, but close enough to maintain radio contact with the drone throughout the course.
Then, the chase is on.
Apparently, it’s considered sporting to urge your steel steed on with the previously mentioned riding crop. You have to keep things classy in drone hunting.
Then it’s pretty simple, when you get within arms length of the drone, you draw your net from behind your back and go for the capture. First one to make the capture wins the round.
While this might be nothing more than a commercial for Mountain Dew, we’re quite confident there are plenty of adrenaline seekers out there that would be willing to give this a try.
I’m not going to lie, if this isn’t an Olympic sport within the next 10 years I’m going to be disappointed with the world.
