A radical terrorist who was found guilty of murdering five journalists was put to death by a Somali firing squad earlier today.
Hassan Hanafi, a high ranking member of the radical Islamic group al Shabaab, was found guilty of murdering five journalists earlier this year after being extradited to Somalia from Kenya in 2014.
Hanafi was unapologetic after the sentence was handed down saying, ‘Al Shabaab killed many journalists but personally I killed only one, but I am indifferent if you kill me. You will see if killings will stop even after my death.’
Al Shabaab has been terrorizing several countries in Africa for years. The group has been responsible for several high profile attacks in multiple countries.
Hanafi was executed in a square at a police academy in Mogadishu. Reporters from the world’s major news outlets including Reuters, Getty, and the AFP were on hand.
