One police force decided to go the extra mile to grab the attention of potential recruits, and their efforts quickly went viral, being viewed almost 300,000 times since it was uploaded on Wednesday. The Star Wars-themed clip stars Chewbacca, assuming the role of a new recruit, and the results are certainly entertaining.

The video was released by the Fort Worth Police Department and begins with a quick roll call and daily assignments.

One officer, called Jimmy, is told, “You get the Wookiee,” by an officer at the front of the room. Jimmy quickly replies, “I’m sorry. Did you say the rookie?”

“No. The Wookiee,” the officer reiterates, right before the camera cuts back to reveal Jimmy’s new partner, Chewbacca.

The pair proceeds through the usual daily activities, with Chewbacca’s skill set not always being ideal for the situation at hand.

A routine traffic stop ends with Chewbacca violently shaking a woman’s car while time at the firing range results in an explosion.

Another officer ends up with an extreme disadvantage during combat training.

Jimmy also has a personal issue with the Wookiee after Chewbacca fails to clean his hair from a shower drain.

In recognition of fallen Star Wars hero Han Solo, Jimmy works to comfort Chewbacca during a lunch break, saying, “Hey. I’m sorry about Han.” When a frustrated Chewbacca attempts to leave the room, Jimmy adds, “You want to talk about it?”

In closing, the Fort Worth Police Department displays an announcement in the style of the famous crawler that traditionally opens Star Wars films.

It begins, “Attention Wookiees!” before being quickly corrected to read, “Attention Rookies!”

“Welcome to the Fort Worth Police Department!” the message continues.

“Remember to always show courtesy and respect to our citizens and always provide professional service. And may the force be with you!”
