When the US dropped the Mother of All Bombs, the vibrations were felt throughout the world. Countries took notice and President Trump cemented himself as a man that should not be trifled with. Russia tried to one up the MOAB with their Father of All Bombs but Pope Francis has taken issue with the name of our bomb.

“I was ashamed when I heard the name,” Pope Francis said Saturday. “A mother gives life and this one gives death, and we call this device a mother. What is happening?” He explained that the word “mother” should not be affiliated with a deadly device such as the GBU-43 Massive Ordnance Air Blast.
On May 24, Pope Francis is scheduled to meet with Trump which could be potentially awkward considering the two have such strong differing beliefs on what benefits the human race and mankind as a whole.
The Pope and Trump have publicly had differing opinions about a multitude of various topics. Immigration has been a vocal point of Trump’s administration, something that Pope Francis has also taken issue with. Another subject that has been discussed at length is thus administration’s discussion of climate change.
The most recent issue the two have been at odds over is the situation in Syria, in which Pope Francis has stated is a civil war that can only be fixed by God. Trump, on the other hand, made it clear that he will be involved in the conflict when he launched 59 tomahawk missiles at a Syrian base.
The MOAB was dropped on a suspected ISIS cave system in Afghanistan last month which the Pentagon estimates killed over 800 ISIS fighters. The crater left behind from the bomb was measured to be 300 feet wide in diameter, and anyone who was standing on ground zero was instantly vaporized.
Pope Francis has differed with leaders from various countries, so this is nothing new. What is new is how open and vocal he has been against Trump and his decisions. Perhaps the two could hash out their differences when he visits the US towards the end of the month.
