Pundits are nitpicking once again; this time over President Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump sitting at the oval office desk. The image that was taken from Ivanka’s Instagram account shows her father and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau standing behind her as the 35-year-old sits in her father’s chair.
The caption which simply reads: “A great discussion with two world leaders about the importance of women having a seat at the table!” was made into a liberal field day, with many arguing that she is disrespecting everything the seat represents.
It’s ironic really as the democrats would have loved the same picture if their candidate, Hillary Clinton, would have won the election and found herself sitting there.
In reality, Ivanka had an actual reason to be there, and she wasn’t the only woman there. Ivanka and the leaders were accompanied by a group of women who were there to have a discussion on women and the economy.
The group also announced the creation of a United States-Canada Council for the Advancement of Women Business Leaders-Female Entrepreneurs.
One woman commented on Twitter arguing that it was a smack in the face to those who have sat there before her.
Others stretched even further by claiming that the 45th President of The United States was disrespecting the long proclaimed history of the very office he is elected to.
The one thing that the liberals need to realize is that family members of the president have come and gone from that room for years.
It may not have been as publicized, but it happens. Unfairly, Trump, his family and his campaign have been under a microscope since being elected.
There comes a point when critics are simply searching to find anything to criticize the president. You don’t have to like Trump, but at least acknowledge that all these “wrongs” you focus on have actually happened many times before with many other presidents. So give the man a break.
The similar question could be raised if Obama’s daughters were sitting there. Would there still be a complaint? Double standard. Far worse was done at that desk other than a daughter of the president sitting there, Bill Clinton anyone?
