Michael Canady used his time on national television to show his support for slain Virginia police officer and United States Marine Ashley Guindon.

Canady, the former starting cornerback for the University of Virginia, knew he would be live on national television when he ran the 40-yard dash during the NFL combine and decided to do put a tribute to officer Guindon on his cleats.

Guidon was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call on her first shift as a police officer Saturday night.

Canady’s cousin Alexus is a police officer in Prince George’s County, Maryland and his aunt, Pam Lewis, was killed in 2002.

One of the cleats is going to be given to Guindon’s family and the other will be put up for auction with all proceeds going to Guindon’s memorial fund. Under Armor has committed to make a donation to the fund as well.
